I was just watching a lot of initiatives being discussed on the network about developing Bihar and was pleasantly surprised by the reactions.

After going through almost all the forums and blogs, I concluded that most of the discussion if very serious in nature and proposals workable, which is generally not the case elsewhere. To my mind the most important thing that Bihar now needs is a group of people who are able to go out and convince the masses about some of the plans.

The implementation can start from a village or a small locality in a city and then spread outwards.

In my opinion controlling crime (which is still very high), education, health, agriculture, developing infrastructure and setting up labour intensive industries are the key to Bihar's development.

While controlling crime is primarily the government's responsibility, even the common citizens can do a lot if they follow rules. Buying a railways ticket while travelling, not getting involved in illegal constructions (both residential and commercial), following traffic rules etc can go in making Bihar a far better place.

On the educational front, starting from the primary to higher and technical education everything needs a major dose of private funding as the government lacks the necessary funds to do it all alone.

Similar is the case on the health front as there is an acute shortage of health care workers and doctors. Bihar is one the most malnourished state inspite of boasting of vast tracts of fertile land. Agriculture is still very primitive and per hectare production is most areas very low.
